Wax Paper Chandelier

5 Apr

I found this amazing wax paper chandelier on Freshly Picked a few weeks ago. I immediately thought it would be perfect for the baby’s room. Since I am currently 6 1/2 months pregnant, my “nesting” has been limited to non-painting, non-toxic, non-moving-of-furniture activities. Needless to say, it’s been killing me. I was pumped to find something that I could do.

The tutorial listed on Freshly Picked is pretty awesome, so I won’t bore you with the details. This was incredibly easy to make, but very time-consuming. In the future I would get a different hole punch. I used this 2″ Fiskars Squeeze Punch, and it was a pain the rump. For every 4 that I cut, 2 were perfect, and the other 2 either needed trimming or re-ironing because they tore. I think a simple punch type cutter would be easier to use next time.

Time Spent:

  • 10-12 hours

Materials:

  • 6 boxes of waxed paper ($1.25 each)
  • Lamp shade from Goodwill ($2.40)
  • Hole Punch ($12.99)
  • Total price – less than $23.00

I’ll post a finished picture once it’s up, but here it is in progress.
